I live in HK and been looking for a good PGM IV and I must say almost every bike I've seen is crap. I finally managed to buy one in fairly good condition and it ended up costing me $5000USD for a SE converted to SP in Rothman's colours. There are a few collectors in HK that occasionally sell their bikes. These are the ones you would be after.
I m from HK too, Rico Motor (the shop from above link) is not a reputable shop, their bike always "looks" good, but mechanically bad. from what I heard, they buy crashed bike in really low price, like USD100, then take off all the functional parts, to built up another bike. thats what we call "lego bike" in HK
Trust me Jon, you are never going to get the bargain you are looking for!
You are SO much better off buying a bike already in the UK and registered. By the time you've found a bike, paid £500 to import it, paid the VAT and/or import duty, registered, MOT'd, and taxed it, you will be looking at £1000-1200 on top of the purchase price for a bike you have bought unseen!
Heed these words... many (and there are some who are members here) have been bitten by bikes "specially" imported. Check out these links for a start:
You'll get an MC21SE for around £1750 if look about a bit and are patient, but a '28SSP is always going to be upwards of £2500 - and that's for a well used one! _________________ Andy.

Are there any reputable dealers in HK then? Where's a good place to look for us poor bast@*#"s in the states? Any buying tips and/or advice for us nsr wannabes from you guys that have been there and done that? Any help would be great. Maybe Andy could post a buying guide with tips from everyone on the forum who submits their info ( sorry to give you more work, Andy ).

an SE would do me, the only diff between sp/se is magteks isnt it? if that is the case id just source a second hand pair of magteks, im still looking at mc21's though, just i prefer the mc28's styling and clocks.
It seems to me that the link above has several dealers and/or individuals selling bikes. Any of these dealers reputable by you guys who live in HK? Having a pieced together bike doesn't seem to bad since I planned to completely go through it anyway, as long as it was complete and everything worked. Any problems with sending money and not getting the bike? _________________ To much HP is barely adequate!
I haven't seen a dealer yet who has a bike in good condition. I purchased mine from a garage/dealer who obviously pieced it together but tried to sell it as an original SP. However, since he had it apart he cleaned most of it up for me but I paid a bundle for it (approx $5000 usd).
The only chance you have is to find a dealer who is also a personal collector. These bikes will usually be in good condition. The rest have been thrashed on the road or stored outside in humid weather which means lots of rust and corrosion.
I know one dealer who is thinking about selling one of his bikes from his personal collection (he owns 1 of every NSR built). I'm sure if you offerred him enough money you could get it. I think it is a Rothmans SP (original everything + low km) and he wants $7500 - $8000 USD for it.
