Aftermarket Coils?

Sat Mar 19, 2011 3:44 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

I've been messing around with the bike all day. Installing stuff, cleaning stuff, etc and I only noticed today that the coils installed are not the OEM ones, they are bigger and made by Magneto Marelli, picture below.

Just wondered if anyone knows why the previous owner would do it?

It's not really a problem, just annoying having something on there that's not OEM and also finding a place to to put them that's not in the way or untidy looking.

You can get nsr125 ones( almost identicle to the 250 ones) for about £10 each. Do you have the rubber holders still on the frame for the oem ones?

Aha, the previous owner had a 748 funnily enough. Maybe the old ones had died and this was the only option he had.

No holders. I could try to find some though.

It runs ok with these coils, just wondered why and if there could be any problems with doing it.
