ok folks here's the sp
after just over 4 years my business at the the shoulder went pop...
although the pub appeared always busy a cobination of dodgy accounts from a previous landlord and massive overheads for a small country pub contributed to my demise, all to often people with no catering expertise take and attempt to run pubs... this wasnt the case with me as the shoulders diary went like this:-
mon ladies skittles
tues ladies darts / bridge team
wed mens skittles
thur quiz night
fri rest night
sat rest night
sunday poker night
restaurant was open lunch dinner
so to sum up the the devil in this story was the landlord a company infamous for their greed...£32,000 rent and a beer tie that basically worked out to an exra £18,000 - £20,000
(basically you could buy the beer £25 ish a barrel cheaper than me in the trade?)
so finally thank you for your support its been a pleasure to meet you and realistically on our two stroke sundays i was a pig in sh*t.
now two stroke sundays are not finished...there's a local pub wanting to continue it.. probably a lot easier to get to..the format will remain and hopefully i'll see you there at THE GEORGE Watling Street Kilsby, Nr Rugby CV23 8YE 01788 822 229 ...last sunday in the month details to follow
Be lucky paul aka max350lc
Sorry to hear that Paul..... got an old skool mate who owns a pub and he's always saying how hard it is. All the best for the future and may it smell of two stroke!
Really sorry to hear the news - we (me, Tim and Rob) from Diff'rent Strokers only managed to come to one event thanks to always having stuff on at weekends, but the one we managed to get to with the Gags was fantastic
Let us know the new dates at The George when they're sorted and hopefully we'll be able to come along to another . . . maybe even with some grown up bikes this time!
Paul
Sorry to hear the sad news about your pub, you were a welcome break to the 2T brigade with your sunday meetings. If you stay in the area let me know and we can meet up for a sunday blast.
