Rear Wheel blues

Fri Apr 08, 2011 9:12 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Anybody know where I can get Dunlop GPRA-10 tyres?
I've spent most of last year restoring an NSR 21/28 hybrid only to find out last saturday that the rear wheel is off an old NC30 (ie an 18 inch rear wheel). I can't believe I never coped it.
The dealer said that Dunlop have stopped producing GPRA-10's and all else is 17 inch, and they were the only ones left making some decent rubber for an 18 inch rear wheel.
If anybody knows where I could get a set from old stock or even if they have an old set with reasonable life left in them I'd be very grateful. Right now I'm in a total pickle as to what to do. I can't find anybody else that is making decent rubber for an 18 inch rear wheel.
The GPR70's on it are totally shot and I don't fancy throwing the bike down the road after all the hard work.
Please somebody help!!!!!!!!!!!!

That would be my suggestion as well. Rvf 400 one will fit as well.

What colour do you need? Wink

Thanks for the response. I just checked the Bridgestone website and yahoo!!!!, there are 18 inch BT090s available. Thanks CRM. I never checked as I thought all would be 17 inch but there you go, always check.
Anybody know the difference between BT-090 and BT-090PRO? I didn't know about the PRO. Is this tyre a new addition?
Anyway, at least I can get a tyre for now. I suppose it might be a good idea to pick up a proper 17 inch wheel as Bridgestone might stop producing the 18 inch tyre.
Black would be the wheel colour I need but any colour would do as I could get it re-sprayed if needs be.
Watfordhorn, do you have a spare 17 inch rear wheel, RVF400 or MC28?
If you have and are interested in selling I would be interested.
Thanks for the replys folks.

Have you checked the Dunlop website properly? Brand new dunlop gpra 10's went on my mc18 2 weeks ago. 440 aussie dollars fitted. Took less than a week for the shop to get them. http://www.dunloptyres.com.au/TyreDetailAction.do?website=DUN&websegmentcode=MOTORCYCLE&mtpcode=80185&from=nPerPage.

I don't know , maybe they are available in Australia but they don't seem to be available here. The dealer checked the main supplier in the UK and they said they were discontinued. I checked the Dunlop website before ordering and it was the Australian website that listed them so I figured that they should be available here aswell, but sadly not the case.
I did notice they were removed from the RGV.C0.UK (tuning works) website some time ago but didn't think they were discontinued.
Anyway, I ordered a set of BT090's yesterday, just happy that I can get an 18 inch rear tyre right now because all week I thought I was fooked.
Anyway, thanks for the info. Maybe the dealer has some deal going on with Bridgestone.

Yeah, weird. I don't understand companies most of the time. You would think there would have been a shed load more bikes with 18 inch rears sold in the uk.
