transmission oil viscosity

Sat Apr 09, 2011 11:44 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi!
i have used the gro oil and other 10-40 oils and i feel that when its new, gear changing is smooth and almost no sound.. but when it warms up and after a few days it becomes like its been there for years!

what is the negative of using high viscosity oil? i have read an article that suggests bigger oil for 2stroke trannys for better protection and smoother operation at high temperatures and that makes sence!

Hi NSR-LOVER,

in my opinion and only in my opinion the best oil that you can use for your transmission is the ELF HTX 740 (75W)... It is specially developed for dry clutch gearboxes coupled to 2-stroke engines. Most of the GP teams use it when they don't sponcored by other brands...

Regards
Michael
