ok what do you guys use when you remove the oil pump to blank off were it sits, on my aprilia i had a blanking plate so nothing got inside the engine, on my 28 it has been left open

HRC has a block off plug, as does TYGA. Or you could make your own. Cut a piece of aluminum into shape and use the mounting bolts/holes to attach it. Get some gasket material and cut that to shape to seal it.

Holy crap! It was never blocked? God dam monkeys.
Make sure you block the little hole too, that's a direct feed to the crank bearing and seal.

Are you sure the small hole was left open?? holy cow its amazing it hasnt seized with so much air drawn in the crank....

i dont kow i got the bike monday and when i started this thread i noticed there was nothing blanking it off i will imvestigate further at some point but its not getting run at the moment but its first on my list of things to do when i go over it all

Not to mention sand, grit, moisture.
And let us not forget the big hole which is open to the gearbox.
