Wed May 18, 2011 7:05 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

my mc18 is at around 65deg when i am driving on the open road.

but when i get into town the temp increases rapidy to around 80-90deg .

so i try to avoid town.

i took out the thermostat and it opens in boiling water and i replaced the coolant.

is this normal any ideas????

i had the bike pulled apart anyway.

so it only took a few mins to check thermo and the coolant needed to be changed.

i thought my crank seals were leaking, beacause there was oil on the inside of the fairing and the left pipe had oil on it.

but it was a combination of a leaking rear shock and oil leaking out around the sensor on the gearbox Very Happy

hopefully my fuel tank and screen brace come soon been waiting nearly a year Rolling Eyes

Use distilled water in your coolant , it helps . Maybe you keep the revs down when in traffic and do filter to the front of the "grid" at the lights .
