hey sorry for no reply.... My mc16 NSR 250 isnt running well at all!!!!!!....it seems to struggle befor the power band and when the power band!!! And it struggles to go over 120km..... The bike jerks how a four-stroke bike would when theres fuel starvation...... I bought the bike from a guy who didnt really maintain it very well and was standing for 7 months!!!! Any sugestions please?????????
And start by removing the carbs, stripping them and cleaning them. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
hey should i be worried when i turn the fly wheel on the bike that moves the pistones, the top piston has compression but not as much as the bottom piston? I havent ridden it for about a month.......
What I was told when I bought my NSR was the crank seal was gone as the previous owner had let it sit. Supposedly it dries out the crank seal if you don't run them on a regular basis. Can somebody verify?
If the crank seal is gone compression will be lost between the cylinders. Usually the front cylinder runs lean and if you ride it, you'll likely seize it.
It's a possibility that it is a crank seal, but lets not get all doomsday. Compression should be similar for both cylinders if all is right. You should check this with a gauge, not your hands. However, if you can tell a difference by hand, this indicates that it is a big difference.
My recommendation is to do everything else first. Check everything is clean and adjusted, with fresh fuel/plugs etc Check the power valves are operating and there are no air leaks.
After you've done everything, it's time to pull of the barrels and inspect the pistons/rings and test your crank seal.
iv taken the carb off and im going to give it a good clean tomorrow. The reed valves look okay still (not that i would know but no damage) gave them a good clean with carb cleaner.
i noticed and would like to know what is the two combined little orange kind of colour plastic containers that sit and conect to the reed valves???
the front cylinder has alot of compression but not as much as the top. Could it be that because its the top piston theres no more oil on the rings to make a proper seal for its been standing so long since iv driven it???
Iv changed the plugs today, and how would i check if the power valves are opperating and actually letting the gasses out??? And where do i check for air leaks?
Its my second 2 stroke and i dont know much about them........
Thanks!!! And help........
I am planning on getting new pistons and rings have to save up for those as parts are expensive here for the NSR.... Iv changed the plugs.....thanks and iv sprayed some carb cleaner into every hole in the carbs, i cleant the carb in a see through container and i was left with like greenish and brownish carb cleaner in the container...
Hey anonymous.shyster looking forward to your reply from my last post..
How would i test my crank seals? And the power valves?
The center crank seal will bleed air from one side to the other (right to left IIRC) If left sitting for more than a day or so. Oil during motor operation seals this leak.
finaly done with cleaning my carbs( 3 cans of carb cleaner latter sure its pretty much clean as it will ever be..o.O..) now im going to move on to the power valves...! And thanks il go check out how to test them, il try the HRC
i found that when beffor i started to take my RC valves off that on cable was really loose and the bolts were not even holding it , i could take them off by hand loosening them... And i could see that the valves were no aligned and each one was off about almost a 1mm..... ???
