New track toy

Sun Jun 05, 2011 9:02 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Having sold the almost unusable 500 I have got myself a new track toy and a couple of grand in the pocket Smile

Not sure on plans yet but currently thinking RSW bodywork and just keep it nice and simple in plain white with just a couple of honda stickers. Its certainly no show bike and has a few battle scars but it came with a load of spares and appears a well set up bike with some good bits like Ohlins rear, 2002 forks, VHM heads, later under yoke ram air, JHA pipes etc. Shame someone has decided to go down the route of polishing the frame but I guess its all all sortable in the future.....currenlty I just want to ride it!

At least it still has a nice bendy swing arm Smile

I dare you... no, double-dare you to MOT it! Laughing

Better than any Frankenbike, Leigh! Spot on! It just needs one thing... talk to Steve about a trick HRC (or HRC-style) rear hub for it!

Obviously Rich's done a Cadalora Rothmans, but how about another rep?

I have got the later RSW seat unit fitted now, but i dont think I like it and will probably go back to the proper 99 fairing. Only issue is the air ducts as mine has been modified for the under yoke design Sad

I think it looks cool with that tail mate, though i reckon it'd be important to see the whole ensemble with the lower fairing on it too before you pass final judgement.

Cheers, but I have sent it back and going to go for the earlier nx5 look.

I have ordered a set of front fairing from padgetts that they used to use their racebikes, slight modifications to standard with an extra vent to cool the clutch and a few more alterations he mentioned. It's pretty much the 96 fairing as I don't need the letterbox ram air as I have the over the rad modification. I spoke to Clive on the phone and he convinced me. Probably go for a slightly later seat but my main aim is one that fits well.

Great stuff Leigh! I can do you a NX5 top end kit at a better price than Honda when / if you need it. HRC put European spares prices up 40% recently Shocked
I've also got some Pedrosa style RSW bodywork gathering dust, see pic (just ignore the crap wheelie over the mountain Laughing )

Very nice. As Mr Guinness says I've just bought a '99 NX5 with Pedrosa bodywork fitted along with the over the radiator airbox. My tank still has the airducts fitted to it.
I've also got a standard NX5 airbox and fairings with my bike.
I've also just bought an'A' kit rear axle aswell...

Yes,I feel quite lucky that I managed to buy it, although with any race bike there are quite a few little bits that need fixing.
I was a bit concerened about the look of an NX5 with the Pedrosa bodywork fitted but since I have seen it in the flesh I really quite like the look of it.
