Hi all
I've got a standard mc21, and I've read in the tuning section about the wire splice, but i can't see anything about airbox/jetting I know there is section on jetting but nothing about what works together, so my question is if I do the wire splice will I gain the increase in bhp without having to
To do the airbox mod? I've used the search function and read alot, but if I understand it right if I do the wire splice and airbox mod I will have to rejet? The ideal mods I want to do is wire splice with airbox mod and eventually new end cans, so what can I get away with without re jetting? I fully appreciate what can happen if it goes wrong so people may not want to have an input but somone may just stop me destroying my engine, so is wiresplice ok without rejet?
Is wiresplice with airbox mod ok without rejet? It goes well enough as it is but would like a bit more power but at the risk of blowing it up il leave it as is
Thanks
There's always a risk of "blowing it up" when you tune but results indicate an mc21 is OK as long as the stock pipes are retained.

Hi thanks for the reply,so are you saying that results show that if I splice and drill airbox and leave pipes and cans (for now at least) I SHOULD be ok? Does anyone else run this wiresplice drilled airbox combo? With the rest of bike std? I won't hold anyone responsible.
I've seen it done on the dyno. Stock - wiresplice - mod airbox. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread

Yes, no probs, also ran tyga pipes, no probs, everything else standard. also know several others running this set up, only for normal road use i hasten to say. _________________ Proud Father of , 05 ktm 400exc supermoto 2018 honda crf rx supermoto

Dave Ett got less than 1/2 a mile up the road running Tyga pipes on stock jetting before it seized. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
Hey mate. The set up you propse is exactly how my bike is now. PGM splice and GPS splice. Holed airbox lid, good filter. Tyga end cans, factory pipes. Factory jetting.
I had the bike dyno'd and it made mid 50's hp, which is a bit low, but all dynos read different, so im not concerned about the extra couple hp. Its a street bike. AFR was actually richer than i antisipated, so i saw no reason to tinker with the jetting, although it does have a bit of a flat spot at WOT around 5-6k.
Rejetting would definatly improve it, but for my purposes, its fine. _________________ Winning isn't everything, but loosing isn't anything

Nope. Just got impatient and stupidly didn't wait for the jet kit to arrive... _________________ MC21SP Plaything

I recently did the splice and half of an airbox mod(2 holes) as I also was waiting for jets. Did a plug chop and it was running very lean, plugs were white! So I taped up the holes and am still waiting for my jets to arrive!
I will drill 2 more holes and go up some jet sizes to start.
I will always check and recheck as a topend is more expensive than my time!
Hi, i'm an NSR virgin but if i understand correctly the splice mod merely disables the electronic restriction on ignition advance in 4th, 5th and 6th gears when approaching top speed? in other words its just a top speed governer. If this is the case how does the splice mod liberate more HP? I dont understand My NSR will have the splice mod but i wont be doing anything else and it will be completely stock, the supplier tells me that he does the splice mod on all the NSR's that he imports.

an engine with less ignition advance has less power basic so an engine with more advance has more power still basic but the more you advance timing the closer you get to pinging still with me the leaner an engine gets the closer it is to pinging or melting pistons. doing the splice give the engine more advance in the top gears were the engine is under a lot more load and also more power in these gears this added power and advance will need more fuel to run the cylinders at the same operating temp this is the same for all motors.
the splice gives more advance and an actual advance curve in the top three gears
so your going to give the bike more power and advance as well as making it leaner by drilling the air box but not add any more fuel id say its a rebuild waiting to happen although would probably be fine under 3/4 throttle for a while although i wouldnt risk it "a dyno run costs like 80 bucks" _________________ "Batmans a scientist"
Splice first ask questons later, that was my approach! I run splice and Tyga pipes with a foam filter on standard jetting and it still runs rich at the top end. It is still crucial that you check though. Never take somebody elses word for it, every case is different.
