Tried many different chain lubes over the years. Most of them seem to throw off on the wheels very quickly and that's that. Last time I was out dirt riding, we'd run out of whatever brand chain lube we were using at the time, so someone suggested trying Lanotec. Well, we did and it worked quite well...
It's quite thin and sticky initially, so it soaks in, but then after you leave it for a while it dries quite a bit. So what I've been doing is cleaning my chain well, then after it has dried applying Lanotec about three times, spinning the wheel around by hand on the jack. If left overnight or longer, I get the best results (it hardens, sticks and doesn't fling off). I've noticed that on the road bikes, I get a LOT less lube on my rear wheel, and after a 200km road ride, the chain isn't dry like it would be using a lot of other brands.
I just did my Ducati chain, and have ridden 250km. Got very little lube on the wheel, and the chain looks like I just sprayed it!
Hi i have not tried that, but i use silkolene on my zx10 and thats ok but if i use it on my nsr with white wheels it's terrible,so iv'e just ordered some wurth chain wax which is suppose to dry white so if any flicks off it should'nt show as much il let you know how it goes
