Disable oil injection and run premix only?

Thu Aug 18, 2011 10:20 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Just wondering, can this be done easily? Does anybody do this mod?

Seems like one less thing to fail, and the last thing I want is problems with my new to me dream bike....

Also, if one did need to do a bottom end rebuild (I've got the top end rebuild kit on order, OEM honda pistons and parts...Just in case...) where would you source a crankshaft from? Seems almost impossible to find one..

..On another note I got some time today to work on the bike. Found it hadn't yet been derestricted (awesome!) so I'm going ahead with that.. Also setting the RC valve like you guys said. Seems like she'll be gaining a few HP and running better than ever!

Can I vote on a new order for the bikes in your signature pic?! Smile

MC18 | CR250 | RS(Y)125 | R1

The text with then partly obscure the RS, and pretty much obliterate the bore-stroke! Laughing

Bore-stroke lol that's great. That big R1 is just a monster- 160wheel HP is no joke, and it's pretty easy handling.. Nothing like the NSR though but it's a real blast best suited for big fast roads... Check out these videos I made over the last couple years..

This one's pretty good.. World class roads in Malibu canyons.. And my first time riding there!

Got one running premix and one on pump, and its so much easier to go for a ride on the pump one, on the other one i carry a small bottle of oil velcroed in the nosecone with enough for a 10 litre mix, no probs if you only do short rides, but can be a bit worrying if you dont see any fuel stations. Also if your mate Jonny round the corner calls you up at 6 in the evening for a squirt and your tank is empty, you have to go through the rigmarole of knocking up a tankfull, thats if you have any neat juice at home.

Very, Very, Very, Very, Very, Very, Very, Very, Very, Very few NSR's have ever suffered oil pump failure. The ones I've heard of have mostly been due to bad mechanical skills and tinkering!

They were built during the period Honda was absolute King of quality engineering - the time of RC30's, NC30's etc. Everything they made in the early nineties was very well built.

Lucky us! Cool
