MC18 TPS. Does it really need it?

Does the mc18 really need the TPS?

Reason I'm asking is that it would make the carbs fit inside the narrow airbox on my '16 a lot easier if it were removed.

What exactly does it do? It's on a racebike so low rpm stuff doesn't really matter..

The stock mc18 PGM needs a signal from it or the power valves don't work.

This is what you want;

F3 carbs / HRC CDI

Ok, can I just stick it out the way somewhere then? Lock it to the fully open position?

And I would love them bits even if I had the cash could I find them?

Answered my own question, seems its more hassle than its worth removing the TPS. I'll muddle on for now..

The TPS alters the ignition timing by a fair margin. You will need the TPS plugged in even if not attached to the carbs.

Two ways of going about setting it up. Take a voltage reading from the TPS with the throttle fully open then set the TPS to this reading once removed. Or remove the TPS and run the bike altering the TPS position until best power is found (this is not fully advanced!).
