Does anybody know what Xenon headlight would work with the MC28? i was out with a buddy who has the 6000k system on a KTM, wow. what am i doing with 15 year old headlights? any recommendations for what system to use would be very helpful.

Yup, 4300K is the brightest, the higher the number the more the color change, not necessarily the distance of the light.

I'm tight and cheap. I'd buy a cheap one. Just don't fall for the Xenon bulb tricks... Automotive stores are abound with 'fake' Xenon bulbs. They're not fake, in that they have Xenon gas in them, but they have a filament. A PROPER Xenon HID headlight has a Xenon filled bulb but no filament, it requires a ballast to run. So, if the Xenon kit does't have a ballast with it, it's not proper HID. The kits I've seen are for cars, so if you've got two motorbikes you can HID them both, or sell it off on here

Nobody has mentioned the word HID, so I thought I'd better share the knowledge.

Thanks for filling us in. High Intensity Discharge is why the ballast is required. If you want something that is a LOT brighter, that is what you want. The pseudo-fake-Xenon bulbs that have a filament are only estimated by some sources to be 20% brighter than a Halogen, so they might still be good, just not HID.

I have the 'extra bright' non HID bulbs in my F800GS, and they made a big improvement to the light output. Made by Philips, though I'm sure others do them too.

Think I paid £25 for two bulbs...

Interesting, Dave. I wouldn't have thought there would have been an appreciable difference with the non-HID Xenon bulbs. What were you running before? Halogen or just a bog standard bulb?

Halogen. The replacements are much whiter light than a stock bulb, and I was also surprised at the improvement - only went for it as Halfords had a two-for-one offer on.

I like the bulbs that Dave uses (trade names are things like +50, +80 etc etc); they give more lumens for the same wattage bulb. Unfortunately to do that they use a thinner hotter burning filament that tends to blow when hitting pot holes or kack handedly dropping wheelies. All good on a bike with twin bulbs like an NSR.

Go to www.ddmtuning.com and get the H4 setup. Make sure it's the one with a digital ballast and no the standard one. The digital is smaller and stays cooler. 4500k is crisp white where 6000k has a slight tint of mint. 8000k starts to look blue and it gets worse from there. Also witht he H4 you're going to have to modify it to fit the NSR housing since nobody but JHA makes one thats a direct fit. Any one wanna buy my JHA 4500k kit? I paid $450 for it when HID was exotic. or you can get it from DDM @ $45.

Well, you're not going to have a problem blowing a HID Xenon bulb on potholes, as they don't have a filament!
