hi, I've had my nsr since April its a 21se low mileage with very tidy bodywork. I've had a couple of real tatty (as they were v cheap buys) none honda 2 strokes back when I used to race and they were great fun and as I had some riding ability then I could show the boys on the big bikes how to ride the lanes up our way. Anyway after a couple of years without any bike I decided to get myself a honda, I hadnt really researched which bike to get just wanted an attractive 2 stroke and ideally an mc28 but as I couldnt find one in my price range I ended up with the 21se. After picking the bike up I used it a few times up the lake district and loved it although I knew it needed the suspension sorting out and at some point a top end overhaul, but it looked mint, sounded great with dogfighter cans and most of all put a smile on my face. Anyway it sat in garage for a while at the inlaws whilst I worked on my house over the summer then when I had a garage at mine to put it in I went for a local ride on the way over and it broke big time in the engine dept! I've never had to strip one down before but heard they are easy to work on so thus its time to learn the ins and out of a 2 stroke, I just kind of wish it wasn't on my pride and joy but needs must and I know the experience I gain from this will stand me in good stead for the future.
I have the winter to get it sorted so plan to strip the motor right back and replace all bearings, seals and such like as well as doing all the sensible mods that are recommended like airbox and proper set up of carbs and anything else I recommended on here. The suspension will get a good overhaul or switch out to better components like maybe rs forks as I think suspension is an area that's often overlooked but makes a huge difference to any bike.
I've already been using the search function and reading loads of old post to try and glean as much info as possible but i will be asking loads of questions most probably mundane to you guys but I hope you will be able to help and get me fluent in nsr 2 stroke ish! I'd got the bike with the intentions of Sunday blasts and some track days but once I got it thought it was to clean to trackday, anyway since joining here I've realised there are a lot of you guys using v nice machines on the track and there is a good community of you lot on here and i really want to come and play on the tracks and get involved.
Going to move this into NSR250 Discussion. Plenty of people will pipe up with ideas and encouragement, I'm sure.
Feel free to post in the Members Builds too, if you fancy keeping a record of your progress for everyone to see... try not to make it as long as siivegotthelongestthreadontheplanetlikesguiness's topic, eh?! _________________ Andy.

hmmm...let's see...wanted an MC28 but got a lowly 21 instead. Could we possibly be headed into that conversation again? _________________ MC21R9N track

There's some very knowledgeable guys on this forum who will be more than willing to answer your questions.
Also, don't think that you've had to go the gutter route by buying an MC21. Many people prefer the 21 to the 28 (myself included), but both have their good and bad points............(trying to think of the bad points of a 21 but nothing springs to mind )
cheers folks, it was a lot of spiel so thanks for reading through it. i think the bit about initially wanting a 28 came across wrong, sure that would have been my 1st pick if one had cropped up in my price bracket but im very happy with the 21even though ive not had the chance to put as many miles on it as i would have liked plus the general consensus on here is that its the better bike which is a bonus.
ive attached a photo of my bike when i 1st picked her up, let me know your thoughts.
Dave, i live in preston and i tend to head up to devils bridge and over to lakes when i go out on the bike. where are you at?
Matt ive put a pic on of me on an SP1 down at bira and was wondering if your the guy with the workshop down there?
