Earliest NSR 250 or 400 F3 BIKES ? .

Mon Dec 12, 2011 10:41 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

HI I want to race an NSR 250 (or 400 possibly)in classic racing but to do this I need to know the earliest f3 bikes raced.
The latest elidgible date is 1986 so was there any Nsr's racing then or previous to that date?
Cheers Dave

First HRC F3 bikes were 1987.

To run a 1986 Honda, you'd need an NS250. Good luck with that! Shocked

Even the CR-Cylindered one in PS last month made only 55hp. I almost bought one to race this year but talked myself out of it..

I think vfr400 NC21's were produced in 1986 and there was an F3 kit available for them, or perhaps the CBR400F or CBX400 which both also had F3 parts. I think I have hard copies of the HRC manuals for these so could scan them in for you if you like

Didn't the MC16 come out in japan in september 1986? I bought mine off Colin Appleyard motorcycles in early 1987 to race in the auto 66 club championship. I think only 10 came into the country officially, with the lucky main dealers only allowed one each. I think i paid approx £3300.

MC16 was showcased in late '86, but it's officially a 1987 model.

All NSR250s were unveiled in the autumn/winter of the year preceeding their official release.

The OP also asked about NSRs. The NS series isn't an NSR.

The NSR250R MC16 is officially a 1987 model.

Dave,

Look through the rules for the classic racing class and determine if they specifically word the rules as model year or manufacture date. Some org's actually base it on manufacture date while others on model year.

if it's model year, then your SOL for an F3 HRC kitted NSR250 (Stephen and Andy have already pointed out HRC only supplied F3 kits for the MC16 and on which means model year 1987 and on).
