Newbe with SP

Sat Jan 14, 2012 11:33 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

I purchased not to long ago a NSR250SP and could do with some help identifying which model I have as I can't find any pictures of a similar bike that has this paintwork - though i have been told it's a 'blade' paint scheme - not sureif that means anything. I know this sounds daft not knowing what I bought but I have got to admit that I bought it just because I loved the look of it Very Happy

It's a 1991 registered bike and the vin is MC21100927# (left the last digit off just in case!)

It was bought into the uk and sold by B&M imports preston.

I had to have all the carbs stripped, cleaned and set up and it now starts first time and goes exceptionally well. It's only got 9000km's on the clock and is in excellent but not mint condition.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Welcome to the site Tonka. You don't need to justify why you bought an NSR!

Have a look at the subframe rail under the seat, you should find a sticker with something like R8N on it.

Also, have a look over at the main site specifications page, as that might help you identify what you have. You may have to ignore the paintscheme, as of course that may have been changed during its life...

I did look through the spec pages but couldn't find it but I have now found this excellent website and my bike is exactly the same as this one at the top. Can't believe I didn't find this website before and it's the only site that has shown the same paint scheme as my bike. I am only the second owner since August 1991 when it was first registered in the uk. I had a mot history check carried out on it and the mileage seems genuine. It's more fun to ride than my 916sps Very Happy

Thanks for the info. Yes I have now found out that it is the Cabin paint scheme. Very Happy Only 2500 of these were made apparently so I seem to have dropped lucky when I purchased it as all I knew at the time was that it was a Honda 250cc 2 stroke. I purchased purely on the back of the fact that it looked great! So glad I did because it is such a great bike Very Happy

G'day,

I'm a bit confused, in that link you posted it states that the SE is the bottom one in the pic, with the HRC decal and red, white and green livery.

However, on the Model info on this site it states that the SP model has the HRC decal?

Maybe i've missed something but they seem to contradict each other?
