MC18 fasteners

Tue Jan 17, 2012 2:37 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

My WTB in Classifieds has had no action so I'm wondering if any non NSR (Non grey market) bikes use same fairing fasteners so I can source them form US Honda dealers. I'm missing the right side Dzus clips and bolts from mid panel. Other stuff like rubber grommets I can probably just pock form the parts bin.

Thanks!

TYGA have a selection of OEM fasteners for the NSR, I replaced a few with parts I got from them.

Otherwise, my 97 900rr midpanels have the OEM Dzus fasteners and clips, but the parts lists show 2 different lengths on the Dzus bolts. But those might work.

I was just staring at my VF1000R and had one of those "Doh!" moments, it has same exact Dzus fasteners as NSR, off to the dealer tomorrow to order them, I think most of VF hardware will fit.

I looked up the 900RR before I asked and all I came up with were 6mm screws, will look again

Is there a some kind of Wiki page where we can have parts compatibility listed with US market bikes?

Yeah, the 900rr parts list doesn't mention that they are DZUS fittings, and I haven't ordered them as I haven't had to replace them, but they should be DZUS pins or bolts. 6mm x 14 or 16 in length.

Now, if you didn't care about being close to OEM, Probolt have lots of quick release fasteners, but only in D-ring or allen head. Maybe they can get the screwdriver type as well.

I agree, it would be great to have a list of parts compatibility, but I havent seen one yet.

OK, I've uploaded some wiki software to http://nsr-world.com/wiki/ for you to have a play with.

I've never used it before, and I don't know how it works, and it's not even "skinned" in NSR-WORLD colours yet, as [a] it's just been uploaded, and [b] I'm supposed to be on holiday! Anyway, have a play with it and see if it's suitable.

Don't get too carried away with it though, as if I can't get it looking how I want it, or after reading up on it I find there's a security threat or something, I will remove it. Really the forum is one big wiki already... as this thread has shown (you know where to get dzus fasteners now!), but see how it goes.

The wiki system that I uploaded has been left untouched for 6 weeks, so I've now removed it.

Yeah, I never got the part number, those Dzus fasteners are supplied as part of bodywork and aren't available separately.

Not to worry. Maybe someone will start a list sometime in the future.

It has to be said though, that most things about parts & part number just get answered fairly quickly on the forum... as this thread has shown. One of the most common questions is regarding fuel taps, believe it or not!

Off topic, but,..

Andy you mention a wiki system that you uploaded.
I had no idea that you had done this
Sounds like an excellent idea!
I just searched the forums for "wiki" and it returned only 2 posts including the one in this thread.
Makes me wonder what you did to "advertise" the wiki to members?

I would like to see you give it another go/chance.

Posted in this thread, as a "wiki" type page was mentioned, but looking back through the thread, the poster seems to have deleted the it!

I can reinstate it, but right now have no time to administer it as I am flitting about on my holidays, and rarely have a decent internet connection for long at the moment!

Fuel Tap was one of my first questions, got an answer in couple days.

I'm not good at searching (zero patience) and I realize this is a small community so it takes couple days to get an answer. If there was a wiki page it might have gotten me to the answers quicker, I would participate in it if I knew how.
