I decided to change all the bearings and seals in the crank cases whilst the crank is out for rebuild.....

Today I removed the water pump bearings and seals but I am now worried that I may have caused some damage or even scrapped the outer casing The problem is the water pump seal set (19217-KV3-831). Can anybody advise if the steel shell is part of this seal or is it supposed to be permanently fixed into the casing.... I reached the point of no return when drifting it out, so its out now but completely wrecked.

The steel shell is part of the water seal so dont panic. It is a bit of a git to remove though.
