I've read about the leak down test you can do to check the crank seal by pouring fuel/oil mix into the top of the engine and
see if it leaks out the bottom. So as I had the barrels and pistons out I thought I would do this. I poured some mixture in the
top engine opening (onto the crank) and left it for a bit.
So far it hasn't leaked. Now, how do I get the mixture out? Or I have I done it wrong?
I put a cockroach through the spark plug hole.
If it doesn't escape in 5 minutes then I call the leakdown test successful.
Sorry, no offense but I couldn't resist.
I reckon you will only be able to diagnose major air leaks on side oil seals with this method.
Use a syringe with a flexible hose at the end as already mentioned ...and lots of rags.
Aforementioned parts will be helpful for brake bleeding as well. _________________ 2t-racelab.com
