When I was driving suddenly the engine started to detonate. Luckely I was very close to home.
Now as I was inspecting the sparkplugs i saw that they were all wet and black. I checked the spark and it was weak an uneven.
I took away the ignitioncoils and checked the electric pase in the cables with a multimeter while kickstarting the bike.
Checked both front and rear cables.
The result was that the pase was uneven on both front and rear cables but it was slightly better on the rear cables.
What part can be wrong? Someone else has experienced the same problem?
You are referring to this post by Dave Ett.
I am sure that he knows what he is talking about and it is a good explanation,...but,...
I have measured this on two bikes, both MC18 (R5k and R6k) that were running fine, and have found that the resistance across the HT coil is about 3300 ohm, also the resistance across the plug cap is about 5000 ohm, giving a total of 8300 ohm.
For a slightly better explanation see note 1) here
Are you sure that the battery is fully charged and working well? I suspect that this is your problem.
Also, I do not understand "pase". I am guessing you mean voltage or resistance? (or pulse?) _________________ [color=#808080][size=9]Yes,.. I too know how to waste Time and Money,...
I guess it is possible that your problem is burnt out connectors? But I think you would have noticed this already, and will have been disconnecting and reconnecting enough times recently to overcome this.
My problems were many, but primarily the woodruff key that located the flywheel had sheared, upsetting the timing.
But also there were other problems:
The PGM was slightly faulty.
The carbs were missing the brass needle shroud that sits on top of the emulsion tubes.
The battery was faulty but seemed fine.
I got it all sorted in the end. _________________ [color=#808080][size=9]Yes,.. I too know how to waste Time and Money,...
