CDI-PGM to PGM-II or III

Fri Jun 15, 2012 10:28 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi all
I have a MC16E motor out of a 1987/88 frame, The system at the moment is CDI-PGM and i am thinking about updating to a PGM-III.
is this possible without too much trouble, or would I have to change the flywheel, power valve acctuator motor, carbs ect??
If i can just change the PGM ECU what advantage would it give me in terms of power.
look forward to any imput on this
cheers Owen

I'm not sure why you would want to do that.

The motor is probably a 2J if it has a PGM (I). This is easily derestricted by unplugging a wire at the tail of the bike, rather than having to start splicing wiring looms etc

What model frame are you trying to fit the engine in?

I have fitted the engine into a superkart chassis. I could use the CDI-PGM from the bike frame but i want to keep the both the kart and bike usable and be able to fit the motor in both frames, that is until another motor turns up and i can aford to buy it.
How do i know if its a 2J, the only number I can find is 16E on the engine and the number on the frame starting with M18.
