I would like to ask if anyone knows if there are any aftermarket exhausts for the MC28 that don't need to relocate the fairings in order to be enough clearance between the exhaust chambers and the fairings...
I have a set of aftermarket exhausts but I have to move a lot the fairings in order to fit, build brackets and also the side stand does close properly and they are specific MC28 exhausts…
What kind of exhausts do you have which they are specific for MC28 and you have these problems?
The JHA 500V2 type exhausts are specific for MC28 and they dont fit on MC21 without destroying from the swingarm the inside area of the right chamber.
Any chambers that fits also on MC21 are not specific for MC28.
On my MC28 the JHA 500 V2 type fits without modifications at the fairings or the mounts just bolt on and have a free space of about 1cm at every side of the lower fairings.
The only small modification that they need is 1cm spacers at the right footpeg if you use the stock MC28 as the chambers are designed for racing rearsets.
If you want i can take some photos for you tomorrow of these areas which you have problems to take a look how the JHA 500 V2 fits.
If anyone has any more infos for specific MC28 chambers i will also love to hear them.
I hope that i helped even a little.
thanks for your reply... No need to send photos... I understand exactly what are saying... My exhausts are the Tyga side by side type... They are great exhausts... I believe they are the best best quality for that money... And i like the looks of them very very much... Tyga boys have done great job...
But i don't like for the fairings not seat nice on the bike... The side stand not folding right and hit the left fairing edge... So i am looking for a pair of exhausts that don't need different brackets... Or relocate the fairings... If it was my race bike i would keep them 100% but i have my MC28 for fun ride, rolling on Sunday's mornings and stuff like that...
Anyway, if i don't find any solution i will go back to the stock exhausts...
I never had Tyga chambers on any of my NSRs to have opinion for their quality, but í have heard good things for them and looks nice.
But if i remember right,Tyga before some years had different types of chambers for MC21 and MC28 but now sells only a universal type for both.
Maybe this is the reason that they need modifications,as they are not specific for a model only.
The stock pipes have the most perfect fit,but they weigh like a boat and if you have the stock MC28 they are restricted with a big welded washer at the front area which bolts on the cylinders.
If you cut this washers you will find some ponnies.
For your problem i believe that some other MC28 owners with Tyga chambers must reply with their experiences.
I believe that we have many of these owners in this forum
I sadly only can help for JHA on MC28 and Dogfights on other models.
Yes, I remember all this data from the past about the Tyga exhausts building specific exhausts for the 21 and 28 models and universal... Although I can't recall if mine is the 28 specific model or the universal model... I believe it is the 28 specific model...
I don't care about the performance that the exhausts will produce... Who cares...??? If I want power I could get a 1000RR and have some real fun... All I care is the looks, sound and properly clearance from fairings...!!
I believe that if your chambers was the old TYGA versions that they were specific for MC28 you wouldnt have these fitting problems.
Many owners care for the performance of their NSRs and try to find every single hidden pony as these bikes are for hobby, fun and racing.
Recently i bought with my father who is an old street bikes rider a GSXR 1000 K9 and i have to say the fun and excitment that NSRs bring me when i ride them, simply GSXR dont have it !!!Although it has 3 times the power of the NSRs.
More power on NSR is more exciting.
I love NSRs for their weight, geometry and of course the 2T engine and sound.
This is my opinion and hope that someone else will reply for your chamber problems with some info on how to recognize if they are old MC28 specific type and any experiences of their fitment as the discussion goes a little out of subject.
