Donington track day...

Mon Aug 27, 2012 8:53 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

At it again! Drop in to Donington Park tomorrow if you're in the area and say hello! Very Happy

We'll probably update Facebook during the day, if we have time.

We sneaked under the radar.

Get packing... you could probably get on track tomorrow easily enough.

Bugger!

I went monday on the quiet day and got black flagged with my new Samba Pipes Sad

I took my Blade as i thought the RS might struggle.

If i had known you guys were going i would have come along too and scrapped the Monday one.

So how did it go?

The 500V performed admirably again, and even took a beating for a session by Mark Davies (ex British 250GP champion).

We had a slight issue with a sticky float valve on the first turn of the fuel tap this morning, which was quickly rectified and re-seated, and the rest of the day was spent spanking it's a$$... just how it should be! Very Happy

Weather was beautiful too, apart from about an hour in the afternoon where it clouded over a bit, but the sun was soon back out. Cool

Nice one, how it should be used. Remember Mark, bloody good 250 runner.

While this is the second time I've ridden the bike it felt like the first as most of our first outing was used to repay people I needed to thank. Information gained from that first day also helped in setting the bike up for my first proper go second time around.

With the gearing lowered a little, rear ride hight raised and slight lowing of tyre pressures the bike was really good. I had a couple (of what felt like huge) slides that almost made me feel like I was riding the bike how it should be.

It is unbelievably fast and I admit after a few laps I struggle to hold on to it. I just don't have the strength.

Letting Mark have a go on it I was rewarded with a couple of laps on a NX4 which was fantastic. I've always wanted to ride one of them and it was like nothing else. I really need one.

Thanks to Andy and Bill who came up with me and helped with bike prep, pushing and in car entertainment and to Fontyyy for being Fontyyy.

The thought of Steve on an NX4 is rather amusing. Just how much clutch slip was required to get it moving?????

But you're right of course, they are a great little machine. Stick a charging system on one and use it to go shopping....Oh what a laugh that would be.

We got some pictures of it Matt. It was tiny, the rear sprocket was about the size of a saucer. It did take some clutch slipping.

I know what you mean about the clutch slip Stephen, so if you do get one you better check out its got a low first, or fit one, but like me i doubt your 8-9 stone anymore, told you they was hard work.
