crank bearings

if ones crank bearings go does one have to buy a new crank.

just wondering coz i have a motor where one conrods bigend bearings needles have fallen out resulting in a siezure. is the crank any use to me as a spare or should i throw it out??

There's much debate on this, with some claiming success from a rebuild and others a spate of failures from a rebuild. The problem is the middle bearing which is an odd size for the speed rating.

Ooh, good question. Not heard of this, but yes I belive so - mostly because no-one has ever said there was a problem with that bearing!

Is the crank marked at all?
