Spitting carbs mc16

Sun Sep 09, 2012 11:23 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi,so recently I clened my bike, removed carbs, cleaned, removed reeds, washed in fuel, blew out with air duster, and re fitted everything.A few days later I started bike, started great as always, but I noticed droplets spitting out the rear of the carb(a box still removed),the more you rev,the more droplets of fuel seems to be spitting from carbs,is this natural,or is something wrong as it didn't do this before the time.bike still idles and revs,I feel like ignoring it and just riding bike like that,is it safe to do this and will it affect anything if I just ride like this???your input is appreciated

hey man, thought i'd help out here since you contributed to my post. how full is your tank? whenever i fill mine up a bit of fuel comes out of the two bronze pipes at the rear of the carbs - its not a big deal - as far as i know its just the overflow. i sorted it by closing the petcock ever so slightly.

It's normal to have some fuel vapour coming from the carbs as you rev it.. Often a sign of reeds not quite doing their job right but I just live with it..

Neal fitted a new set of reeds and commented that the first thing he noticed was no "blow back"

Howzit , your standard reed petals will be tired by now . You can try a few things as a cheap alternative to replacing . Try some carbon petals ,
or if you have spare cash then v force reed valves are good .

Do you know where one can purchase new reed petals ? They are like rocking horse poop. I found some at a wreckers but they are likely to be stuffed also . Not worth the risk.
