I have just purchased my first NSR 250 and keen to restore to former glory. It's in pretty good nick...although showing it's age with a few parts. It seems to me that most key parts are available in new or aftermarket form....however I am struggling to find a replacement chain slider no. 52170-kv3-830, where the new part has been discontinued.
I note that there seems to be previous interest in this part also from other members. I have been trawling the web with no success.
I am looking for ideas from others on how to deal with this issue e.g.
- keep looking to find a second hand part
- adapt a new part off of another model
- custom make something from scratch
- wrap a piece of rubber around the swing arm....?
Keep looking for a second hand one, one will turn up eventually. All the other options will involve some kind of bodging and will look awful.
Keep an eye on yahoo auctions in Japan, loads of stuff on there and Moriwaki man from this forum offers a great service for buying stuff from that auction site.
I custom cut a household white food cutting board for the top and bottom.
Used factory bolt up top and heated plastic a bit to bend it down heading towards front sproket.
Stuck both with a small dab of sikaflex 525? "Vehicle assemble adhesive".
If you spend a little time it will really blend in and follow lines of swingarm.
No melting (probably depends on what each one is made from?) and after a few rides it beds in and chain sits nicely on it.
White looks cleaner and stands out less on silver than the orig, black one did ....but yes it is not orig
