Not quite an NS but...

Sat Oct 13, 2012 8:46 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

I found some pics of a Nico Bakker framed RS500 a friend of mine used to own.
It was raced quite a few times in the not too distant past before being sold to a collector/racer in Europe.
I don't know if any of the members of NSR World would like to see another Bakker framed Honda as there seems to be a couple on this site already... can't quite recall what they are though... memory's not what it used to be...
The pics show the bike being rebuilt before it was sold.

Notice the ATAC chamber (the box with the 'X'). On the RS the ATAC valve was on the the top two cylinders only. The works NS500's had ATAC on all cylinders.

Hans Hummel cylinders.

Adjustable headstock. The frame is a work of art.
Looking at this work of art caused 'shakey hand' syndrome when photo capturing.

That's awesome, but the headstock worries me! Laughing

I like that. Another headstock variation aswell. I see the same seller also has a genuine RS500 frame for sale.
On another note, where are all the RS500's? There were enough made over the years?
I remember, back in the early 90's a racer friend of my coming back from the Northwest 200 with a van load of RS500 engine parts that nobody wanted!
If only I new then what I know now, I would have bitten his hand off! Mad Laughing
