Hello All, My MC28 has never run properly since I've owned it which I put down (through ignorance and not being a mechanic) to it being a standard 28 which never will be that fast. After seeking advice from this forum I decided to ignore my local mechanics (which I've been using for 12 years) when they put the issues down to me running the bike on a standard card and I then sought further help from various members on here. In the end Stephen sorted out the issues which were mainly carb related (stale fuel, encrusted deposits blocking jets and also both main jets not installed correctly, one had actually fallen out into the float bowl). Now it has been transformed from 32 bhp and hitting a brick wall at 9.5k rpm to revving very nicely to around 12.5 rpm and pumping out 39.2 bhp which I gather is very respectable for a standard MC28. Thanks to Stephen and the various guys I pm'd a few months ago ! Henry.
Any chance of you posting some graphs Henry? I don't think we've ever posted a graph of a restricted '28 before. _________________ If I have to take the carbs off once more...
Of course. I'll try and show before and after graphs this week. Still need to put fairings back on as not had time yet. Hopefully these will help people with similar issues to the ones I experienced. I think a lot of people including the local place I use often shy away from nsr's and automatically think any issues are too complex for them to fix as they rarely see these bikes. Thankfully mine was just carb related. I don't think I'll go down the hrc route as too expensive for me plus I just think if kept standard it will be easier to keep on top of (less stress on key parts like crank etc). Plus this way the missus is less likely to cut something off! All the best Henry.
Here is the Dyno graph when the bike was running to a max of 9k rpm and delivering an awful 32 bhp, like riding a full power 125cc. Due to main jets not installed correctly.
