Not sure how often you need to service an oil pump on an RGV, but something like brake fluid should be easily accessible. Anyway now I've found it and changed the fluid I can ignore it move on and have a happy life. Thank you Mr Honda, I know that everyone can make mistakes. I forgive you.
Fluid replacement is only required at yearly intervals, and I best most don't even do that! With the OEM seat unit, there are a couple of "spy" slots in the side to view the fluid level monthly, as per the service schedule.
I have to say, there's very little, if anything to complain about on an MC21. Compared to ANY other 250, it's extremely well thought out and laid out. My main criticism would be the plastic coolant distribution union, that either gets in the way of the front engine mount when removing/replacing the motor, or is a pig to bolt on once the motor's in place. That, and that the RC Valve adjustment can be a bit fiddly with the 2T oil injection still fitted... no problem when racing with it removed though.
Pop the heads or carbs off a stock RGV or TZR, and then do an NSR, and tell me who thought about the critical parts of the bike more when designing it!
Oh, and the RGV oil pump should be checked about as regularly as the NSR rear brake fluid... I know which I'd rather do! _________________ Andy.
