Had a chat to eggsy last night and he said his NSR with Tyga pipes easily passed noise testing at Brands recently at something like 98db
I was under the impression two strokes are hard to pass, so it's a nice surprise.
Any one have similar success? What tracks passed at etc?
I'll be running tyga pipes too soon, and getting an idea of which circuits it's likely to pass when I start booking up.
Cheers
I think the key is the length of end can / silencer. I have Tyga chambers on my MC21 Trck Bike, but with ultra short cans (non Tyga).
The silencers are about half the length of Tyga's. Last time it was noise tested at a track day, it measured 107 db. _________________ Rich

Sorry Eggsy I knew it was under the limit but forgot what you said.
Even so it sounds promising.
Suprised nobody else has posted their Db figures.
Cheers
I have DB information as i do lots of track days but i didnt think it was relevant.
Running an RS with Samba chambers and end cans did this to me last year...
Donington Quiet Day 98 BD ... Drive Through...
The DB meter is on the bridge over the start/finish striaght ... If you 'back off' under it and you are over the limit you will get away with it. But it's tourture and when i went full chat ... I got black flagged at 100 .... now thats drive by....
A month later at Oulton Park with 'Static Noise' testing at 102DB i thought i would be ok!
No, i was banned from going on track at 105DB Static...
I havent really understood the difference in the test methods but a Donington 'Noisy Day' should be ok ... I have done these on the RS.
On a separate note,on standard pipes i havent been banned from anywhere on the RS ... they are longer slip ons ... and the longer the slip on is the better chance you have of being in tolerance.
I have had Samba make some longer slip ons .... hope it calms the DB down a little

Which track Rich? Drive By or Static?
Your right though ... It's the LENGTH of your strap on that makes the difference
Hi Simono,
When you say RS are you meaning an Aprillia or Honda?
As mine will be an MC28 with Tyga pipes so I'm hoping it'll be louder than standard but still get through most track day tests..
Annoying thing is it's a long way to travel to find you might fail and where could you go to get a test locally prior to travelling..
Those noise testers are a pain in the wotsits
I have never had a problem on either Nsr with jha pipes, Nsr with jolly moto pipes or rs with jha pipes. I even got my old mc28 with jollies in the gp circuit at brands. Always worth taking some newer, well packed or longer cans just in case...it even done standard pipes if its really desperate!
On static tested just make sure you open the throttle slowly to get up to the required revs....or just a little below, I have seen people blipping the throttle at around the required rpm which always seems noisier to me.
At Brands they've cottoned on to the fact that people might try to rev slightly below the rpm they require, and have one bloke on the meter, and another looking at the tacho. I saw many fall foul of the eagle eye!

Lol.
It was a static test at Oulton Park. Limit was 105 db. That was a couple of years ago. _________________ Rich

It's a Honda RS 250 NXA Tadpole.
I think you should be ok reading folks comments but take your standard pipes with you just in case. Why not join us at the NSR World track day at Donington this July as its a 105Db noisy day and your guaranteed to be ok there.
I wouldn't have thought any nsr with tyga pipes and silencers would have any problems anywhere, stop fretting boys. _________________ Proud Father of , 05 ktm 400exc supermoto 2018 honda crf rx supermoto
Oulton, Brands and Snetterton are all now 102db static test for "loud" trackdays (they'll be 105db for ACU test days as that's ACU rules).
102db will be OK for most race piped 2t's.
Donington varies, it was something crazy like 112db last time I was there but it's always drive by only from the track side sensors.
Cadwell is 105db static. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
