All,

I can get one built at a decent price. Is it wort it? and I have been out of the loop for awhile...what are some current options? I am sure mine is dead as it's stock. What's everybody doing? Any tips appreciated.

For what it's worth, I just put an Ohlins rear shock on my 1990 SP, but had it completely revalved and resprung by Ed Sorbo at le-suspension. It definitely has the "bling" factor and works phenomenally, but I just bought another NSR, a 1993 MC21 SE, and the stock rear shock is shot. When I talked to Ed, he told me I didn't need to buy a new rear shock as long as it had rebound and compression adjustments. He said he could just revalve and respring it to do what he/I want and to to save the money investing in a new shock. I think the Ohlins does have height adjustability though if that's something you're looking for. Lucky me my new SE did come with RS250 USD forks Wink.

Thanks Michael...I can get it custom valved etc..from Ohlins and the ride height is intriguing. But I wasn't aware my stock sp shock (w/comp/rebound) could be revalved? Am I able to contact him and does he actually do the rebuild?

Yes, Ed is the one that does the adjustments and revalving and respringing if needed. He's going to want you to do a few sag measurements before he does the work, he'll explain what you need to do. Just go to his site, his contact information is on there. I'm lucky that he's fairly close to me, so i'm going to give my bike to him in the next week or so in order to dial it in for my trackday on the 27th. But, once you do the measurements, you can just mail him your front forks and rear shock and he'll take care of you. Having my suspension revalved and sprung was literally a night and day difference in performance, and really gave me a lot of confidence on the track. Give him a call, he doesn't remember peoples names......LOL.....but if you tell him NSR Mike referred you, he'll know....he only remembers bikes...LOL..
