Cbr 1000 master cylinder upgrade

Sun Apr 14, 2013 1:24 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

I just tried to fit a cbr 1000 master cylinder on my mc21 but the brake arm kept hitting the clocks on full lock so I moved it further down the bars to where the kill switch is which sorted out the problem but now the master cylinder hits the fairing stay. Whatever I do I hit a snag.
Can anyone who's done this mod advise on a solution please. I'm guessing that either a aftermarket lever or different brake fluid reservoir bracket is the solution just which ones?
Cheers,
Andy

I had one fitted to a track mc28 a few years back, and don't remember any issues. I did have the HRC lock stop thingy fitted to restrict the amount the bars turned. This is probably why the m/c didn't clash.

Hi, I had the same issue on my 21 so I swapped it out for one from an R1 which fitted without hitting the clocks. It does say Brembo on the casting so I don't count it as a Yamaha part......

Yes I made a new bracket up last night, just going to adjust it slightly and try again tomorrow. I'm sure there are other makes out there that fit but having already bought this one I didn't want to be spending a fortune trying to find the right one. Thanks for all your inputs!
