MC28: Weight difference of Magteks and price?

Sat Feb 15, 2014 9:56 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

I have an offer for a pair of Magtek (SP) rims for my MC28. Because search did not bring up any useful info, does anyone know what the weight difference is between the Magtek SP rims and the aluminium rims (SE, R)? Is it worth to put Magtek rims on a road-going SE? The set would cost 1600€, does that seem like a fair price?

Thanks for help!
gepe.

The differance between a pair is around 0.5kg.

One day I will get accurate measurements of this.
Also, I will calculate the important number, the difference in rotational inertia.
I am a bit of a fan of light rims.
But, of course, the tyres also have massive effect.

I didn't buy the rims. For me, the effect does not justify spending 1600€. Also I read posts stating that the amount of magnesium is so low that they should rather be called aluminium. And they are white and I would want them glossy black (more €€€). I will have to look for something different to spend my money...
