MC28 needles

Wed Feb 26, 2014 10:14 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi guys
Does anyone in Australia (or anywhere) have a pair of standard MC28 needles..?
And 40, 42 pilot jets..?
I currently have a J8LA and a J8MA so I need at least one or other of those to make a pair.
Any sort of help would be massively appreciated as I'm coming to the end of the rebuild and tune.

Cheers again

Sim

Just incase you don't know. The needles are different in each carbs as standard.

In most cases when we set bikes up we will run different needles and different clip positions in each carb.

Can someone answer a slightly different question. Does an mc28 adjustable needle use the same type of holder as mc21. I saw a pic the other day that showed a holder that looked very similar to the stock plastic thingy, but had a different spring and a hole for the top of needle. It actually looked quite clever and could probably be made from a stock holder.

I'm on travel this week and don't have the link to the pic on my tablet. I can post a pick next week when i get home or try to find it again this evening.

MC21 and MC28 holders are very different. You don't want to be adjusting an MC28 needle too often!

Okay here is my next plea.....does anyone have mc28 hrc adjustable needle holders they are willing to part with?

If not how about a pair of stock ones that i can use to convert? (Drill through hole for needle and install spring that top of needle can pass through)

Kato,
Sorry i hijacked you post. Fyi on the mc28 pilots. I did some searching and noticed that Honda to use the same pilot jet on mc28 on several other bikes. I found they could be bought in US for about 12 usd. I have not bought them but am considering picking up a size 40 to have in my inventory. Perhaps we can get someone to confirm if that is indeed true .
