MC16 Fitting Oil Bottle

Tue Apr 01, 2014 2:44 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Gents,
Can anyone advise me on fitting an oil bottle? I have a MC16 and bought an oil bottle on-line. It is in two sections, small bottle with filler at the top and a larger reservoir underneath. I have fitted the reservoir behind the radiator and underneath the wiring tray, but now the tray will not fit and there doesn’t seem to be anywhere to mount the filler bottle to the frame so I may be missing a bracket. I have looked in the parts manual but I can find an oil bottle mentioned on earlier models, the one I have is different to the MC28 one in the manual. Any pictures will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Andy

It's possible you have the wrong oil bottle.

The stock MC16 oil bottle is a one piece design. I think later NSR's used the two piece bottle (I know the MC18 mkII does). Also the MC16 bottle is opaque black, whereas the MC18 one I have (and possibly other later models) is translucent beige. The MC16 one only sits on the outside of the frame, there is no part of it that goes under wiring tray.

Hope this info helps.

Thanks Moa,

That explains a lot. Guess I'll just use pre-mix until one turns up.
