Hi,

I haven't posted in here since 2009, that's 5 years!! Amazing how time flies.

This is my MC18: https://www.ashleymills.com/images/nsr/nsr.html

I still haven't fitted the magteks ...

My NSR has basically been sitting in my Dad's garage all this time.

For the first couple of years I managed to ride it a few times, then it was just taken out once a year for the MOT. Now it's SORN Sad

As each year went by my Dad would ask me if I was going to sell it or give it to the national motorcycle museum (yeah I dunno why he kept suggesting that, not sure they'd even want it).

Every year I couldn't bring myself to sell it. I've had it for 12 or so years now and it feels like a part of me somehow.

But I think the time has come when I should sell it and give someone else the opportunity to enjoy it, since I'm not using it.

The thing is, I really don't have any idea what the going rate for an MC18 with an SP engine is. Any idea?

Ashley

P.S. Hopefully I haven't raised any forum dragons by posting this here, but I wasn't sure where else to post such a question. It's not actually something for sale yet.

Values of MC18s seems to vary in my opinion. It depends on how fresh the engine is and the condition of the panels. Bridge Moto had a clean looking 2J for £3k with very low mileage, something like 3000-4000.
There's not much difference between a 2J & 4J other than wheels and paint, but Rothmans are probably the most popular colour scheme.
I would recon between £2500 - £3500
I wouldn't sell yet though. I would get a fresh battery & fuel and make some time to ride it

Hi, thanks for the response RobH. Getting it road-ready and riding it again certainly is an option. One that I'd written off.

I remember when I last rode, I got sick of so many cars being on the road. I was constantly overtaking and I found it difficult to enjoy myself. Maybe I just didn't find the right routes.

mydogtaz: I'm in Kent, but the bike is still at my Dad's garage in the midlands.

There are quite a few people around there that would buy it I think.

I'm not interested in getting the absolute maximum price out of it, I just want to sell it to someone that will enjoy it.

I can still remember the day when my father sold his 1952 Triumph Speedtwin 500 to someone at a bargain rate, only to have that person re-sell it as-is at a higher price.

Sometimes it's difficult to do something good in the world, like give someone the gift of a good price.

Ash
