Hi guys
I am trying to establish how many NF5s were built. The highest chassis number would represent the number built for that year. I read somewhere that in 1987 only 29 were built: four factory and 25 privateer. I am particularly interested in 1992 frame numbers.
Mine is RS250RF9220041, and one that was restored by St Neots was RS250RF9210042, so I assume that at least 42 were made.
Anyone know any more? Les? Tom? Anyone else?
Hi Deon, my 92 one has chassis no; 9210087, doubling what you thought, these 92 models are a bit of an oddball realy, being the last of the line theres so many differences to the previous years model, makes you wonder why Honda went to all that trouble, knowing they were bringing out a completely new model for 93. _________________ Proud Father of , 05 ktm 400exc supermoto 2018 honda crf rx supermoto
Gents,
Don't rely on the chassis/frame numbers - it's the crankcase and cylinder numbers that are representative of the year of manufacture and build. This will also amount to how many bikes were built in each production run.
As`Les has stated, it was the end of the NF5 manufacturing run so HRC cleaned out the parts bin in making the last of the 1992 models using any and all available parts. The NX5 model was completely different as you are all aware.
RS250RE XXXXX and RS250RFXXXX is common across the range. RS250RE leans more towards a 1991 manufacture but is also on some 1992 models just to confuse the matter.
PipeTurkey and I have been researching this for years and have a substantial data-base of case, cylinder and chassis numbers. If you'd like to supply your numbers - it will help our database - and you in the long run in helping identifying your bike
