I just completed the rebuild of my 1991 MC21 and started it for the first heat cycle. It has been a long time coming.
Seems to be running well. It is generating 14.65 volts at the battery at idle. Is this voltage too high? Do you think it's time for a new voltage regulator?
Thanks to all the members of the forum that provided me advice as I went through this rebuild endeavor.
Thanks, Andy. I appreciate the information. The bike had been sitting for a long time in fairly humid conditions so I was very worried about the electrical system. I went through the trouble of checking, cleaning, tightening, and spraying every single electrical connection with WD-40 to displace any moisture. I also replaced the sparkplug caps with new NGK red silicone caps. It seems to have paid off.
I hope to take it for the first ride (second heat cycle) very soon.
I have put the bike through the last heat cycle. It's starting easily and running very well. I'm ready to start pushing it harder. I had forgotten how fun it was to ride.
