Can somebody in the know please help me to identify my flywheel and the correct method of pulling said flywheel from my mc18 r5k motor.
My flywheel is not the same as the flywheel pictured in the parts manual and it does not have a female thread in the middle, therefore it cant be pulled using the puller that Honda list in the nsr workshop manual, the flywheel has 6 holes on the front face as if to allow the claws of a 3 legged puller to go through the holes and grip the inside of the flywheel.
Does the mc18 r5k normally have a thread less flywheel ? does anyone have the correct tool available for pulling this type off flywheel ?
The threads could be badly pitted. It took an age to get my puller to screw in. Once I got it started it was a few turns in then off, spray with a bit of WD, try again for about 10 mins. Eventually it screwed in. I used my 3XV flywheel puller, same thread, just needed a small spacer (I used an old bolt) as bolt on the puller was a little short. A few taps of the hammer and off it popped Don't try and use a 2 or 3 leg puller
hi stephen
I don't have any pictures of my flywheel but ebay item number 310695808426 is the exact same flywheel as mine.
I would appreciate any insight or advice you can offer about the flywheel in question or the Honda tool needed to pull it.
cheers
andy
Yes, that the right fly wheel. You need the correct puller which uses a left hand thread that screws into its centre. Genuine Honda pullers are sold in the marketplace. _________________ If I have to take the carbs off once more...
