piston ring break in procedure

Sun Sep 07, 2014 4:03 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

So with key assistance from Scott V., (thanks Scott!), I am close to completing my very first ring (not pistons) job, proving if nothing else that it is possible within limits to teach an old dog new tricks. Anyway, I imagine people have different views, but what is the recommended routine for initial break in procedure? I've only done the 3 heat cycle drill for full top end break ins.....is it the same when only the rings are new or is it perhaps less? Thanks for any advice!

Yes, thanks, I had read this and had it bookmarked. It follows a description of a complete top end, so I was not certain whether the same 3 heat cycle procedure is required if just pistons have been changed. So I guess it is the same procedure regardless. Good to know, thanks.
