Hi I have an mc21 dry clutch engine I would like rebuilding I got it imported from tyga performance barrels are fine power valves out fine but they are an r barrel and head, but as long as the barrel and head are matching it should be ok ? it was running before but been stood for a long time who and what cost do you think it should cost big ends crank seals ect thanks Marc
It's not ideal, but as long as the barrel and head match, it will be OK. I.e., you can run one "R" barrel/head and one "SP" barrel/head. Actually, we're rebuilding an SP motor for a client right now, that was delivered in that configuration.
The heads on this particular motor are damaged, one severely, so we're fitting VHMs and machining the inserts to the correct combustion chamber volume/squish. Once the client sources another good, matching SP barrel, we'll then provide a new VHM insert to keep everything in spec.
We do NSR/RS crank rebuilds, and are part of a Honda Main Dealer franchise now, so our OEM parts price list comes straight off the Honda system, matching Fowlers/Lings/DSS etc. list prices. Our cranks may be a little more expensive than others, but judging by what we've seen with our own eyes, they are far better!
PM me if you would like a basic costing of rebuild parts, as I've only just done a quote so have an Excel sheet set up. _________________ Andy.

I've used SEP and while they are ok, I think I'd trust my NSR crank (if I had one) to the guys at Performance Engineering, who have a huge amount of NSR experience and offer so much advice and support through this forum. When my next RS (non rebuildable and unobtainium) crank is up to mileage, these guys are top of my list to speak to.

Some of the RGV forum swear by them, but I had an RGV250L crank done by them and it was crap! A mate had similar issues with a GT550 years ago.
Luckily I bought 2 new NSR cranks a couple of years ago, so I'm good for some time yet. The RS rarely gets a chance to stretch its legs now, because I simply can't fit onto it! _________________ 89 MC18 R5K

Had a Mk1 RGV crank done in a previous life, that rattled my fillings out!
Each to their own, but I'm glad we had Brian at BGC Performance to do ours until he passed away, and mentor Stephen. _________________ Andy.
