I'm looking to upgrade my rear wheel and am wondering if the rear wheel for the Apriia RS250 will fit the MC21? There are quite a few options available for the Aprilia (I'm not talking about a oem Aprilia wheel) but nothing really for the NSR250. If not an exact fit.....close enough that it can be modified to fit. _________________ "If your not first, your last!" Ricky Bobby
I'm gonna send my engine to Andy for a rebuild and upgrade. My goal is to build a cool street/track bike. I want to upgrade the wheels to 3.5 and 5-5.5. I already know what I'm going to do with the front so trying to figure out what to with the rear. There are a few light weight wheel options for the RS250 so just trying to figure out if it's a worthwhile avenue to follow. I want to avoid buying old and used magnesium race wheels off the interweb. _________________ "If your not first, your last!" Ricky Bobby
Andy will no doubt point out that you are slowing down your steering with wider tyres.
I haven't heard of anyone fitting Aprilia wheels . You would need to measure hub width and be prepared for machining the wheels are the NSR swingarm is quite narrow. You will also need some spacers made up.
I was hoping the Aprilia wheel might be close as it's also a 250. I'm not as worried about slowing down the steering a bit with the addition of much better tire choices in the 120 sizes. With the right wheels (meaning lighter than stock) I don't think there will be much of a difference in steering. I'm just at the research stage at this point anyway:-). I do appreciate the help! _________________ "If your not first, your last!" Ricky Bobby
120/160 (or even 165 slicks) can work OK with 3.5"/5" rims*, as long as the geometry is set up correctly, but 110/150 Pirelli Diablo Supercorsas are available, and IMHO, you won't find a better tyre [that are a direct fit on NSR rims].
*160, and particularly 165, are very susceptible to interference with the chain run. _________________ Andy.
