Hi guys
The North Yorkshire Road Racing Supporters Club is holding an evening with Fast Freddie on Wednesday evening.
I spoke with them yesterday and no need to reserve tickets, just turn up and pay £12 on the door.
Subject matter is the 1985 double championship year.
Richie Granthams bikes are on display.
The venue is the Golden Lion in the middle of town.
Anyone going? Doors open 7.15pm
What a great guy. Very humble, funny and witty regaling some memories.
Nothing too much trouble to meet with everyone and signed my Spencer rep helmet.
Had picture taken with him by Rich's 250 Rothmans rep.
Fantastic night out for the princely sum of £12.
Thanks to the North Yorkshire Road Racing Supporters Club for organising the evening and to Larry Carter for interviewing Fast Freddie. _________________ stink wheels forever.
Here is a pic from about 30 or so years ago - just before Freddie went to ride GP. It was taken up on top of team Honda's truck. You all might recognize Freddie, Mike Baldwin and Phil MacDonald (Freddie's tuner at the time). I'm the kid in the pic...pretty much all gray now. _________________ MC28 SP
Great picture of the past. The Americans were breeding awesome talent during this time and through to the likes of Nicky Haydon.
Freddie feels these times are coming again due to the input of Wayne Rainey and input of the organisers of BSB who are turning the American super bike championship into a top level professionally run series.
We're you able to hang out with the Honda team on a regular basis? You witnessed the early career of an exceptional rider. _________________ stink wheels forever.
Sounds like a great evening, and what a fantastic photo, Eric!
When I was a kid I was lucky enough to hang around the F1 powerboat paddock. It was great, even though I obviously never appreciated it at the time as I was so young. It was cool being allowed to sit in all the boats and getting dragged to the bar with all the drivers though! LOL _________________ Andy.

It sounds like you had a fantastic behind the scenes time Eric.
Your dad had a great job too by the sounds of it.
Beats me doing ground works and construction for a living. _________________ stink wheels forever.
