I need some help please!
Like a lot of you I have accumulated a lot of new and used spares and it has now got to the stage where sometimes I`m buying parts only to find that hidden away somewhere is that part that I already had in stock !
So............Ideally I could do with a computer programme where I can catalogue my not inconsiderable pile of bits !
I`m going to guess that someone will say get them on a spreadsheet.............but that is beyond my capabilities as I have a huge "L" plate on my back where computers are concerned.
If any of you already have such a programme would it be possible for you to send it to me on a disc so that I can start and tackle this issue or suggest another way.
I`m happy to pay for any help I receive.
Thanks for reading this..............................Suggestions please..................Many thanks, Paul.
Not a bad idea, eyrey1... This is what we did with all the 500 spares!
Unfortunately, you already answered yourself. Excel spreadsheet (or similar) is your friendliest option. I'd format it like the parts manual. It is very easy to create a simple table layout. _________________ Andy.

Try a few more to see what layout you like or do not like. You will have to customise it a little to suit the way you think and how your parts are stored.
Sort out your stuff. Group like stuff with like stuff, maybe even using the parts microfiche as a way of grouping your parts together. Label your boxes so you know what is where. Make sure the physical storage stays aligned with your spreadsheet.
If you need help modifying one of the spreadsheet templates, happy to help.
Just thought I`d let you all know how I`m getting on with this
A good mate popped round last week and set up a Microsoft Works Database for me and I`ve already logged
a load of parts.
I`ve made 112 entries so far with a least 3 times that many to go I imagine.
Loads of stuff is "inter-mixed" (brake pads in with radiator hoses for example) all in decent sized numbered plastic storage boxes but at least I now know where to look when I want a particular part.
Once I`ve got it all logged I can then do a re-shuffle to make life even easier
