Hi All. New To The Forum And Looking For Some Help

Wed Dec 09, 2015 8:26 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi guys.
Having spent an absolute age looking for a decent unmolested MC21 I am now the very happy owner of what I believe to be a genuine 1992 R8N MC21SP.
There is however a small issue. It was repainted by the importer in the 1990 Cabin Racing colours and although the paint job is extremely good I just prefer the orginal livery.
Now this might seem like a daft question and I sincerely apologise if this has been asked before but what I need is a source for good quality pictures of the original Rothmans livery. Ideally, both sides, front and back and a view from the top.
I've looked at a lot of images (Google images for example) of various Rothmans paint jobs and although in general they look the same I can see various small differences. For example, the angle of the paint line to the tank. Some are straight, some angled, some angled quite a bit etc.
My apologies for sounding a tad anal chaps but I only want to do this once, lol.
Any help or guidance would be very much appreciated.
Thanks
Gary

Hi Gary, and welcome to NSR-WORLD!

There are number of members here, with original Rothmans MC21s. Hopefully someone will be able to post some photos soon. I may have too.... I'll scour the archives! Smile

Cheers Andy. Spot on m8.

Rhyshrc, my main problem relates to the positioning of the tank decals but it looks like the bottom edge of the blue paint runs parallel with the bottom of the tank so no huge problem there! I could do with a reference point so that I know how far down the blue should be and also, a top view of the tank if possible. Thanks for the offer, very much appreciated.

I was hoping that this forum was the place to go for info and to be honest I'd be pretty stuck without it so I'm really grateful for all the help. Cheers guys.

Rhys' MC21SP is outstanding... I would go as far as to say, like new! If anyone can supply great photos, it will be him!

To be honest, I thought I had some of his photos archived! Can't find them though! Wink

No that I am personally familiar with. I keep meaning to measure one up each time we get one in for some work, but never seem to get round to it. It's not a 5 minute job though, to do it properly.

I've seen a few decal kits for sale in the past, but I have no idea if they are particularly accurate. In my experience though, what I've seen of aftermarket Rothmans, they often aren't.
