hi,
i have bought an mc18 that has a 17" rear wheel. first job was to strip the odd coloured wheel and have them powder coated. on rebuilding the rear i cannot get the sprocket to seat against the wheel ( roughly 2mm gap). i never paid attention to whether it was seated when i stripped it down.
i believe i have an mc21 rear wheel, and an mc18 sprocket carrier( bolts go through to carrier and have allen key head, rather than press fit). The cush drives are stopping everything fitting flush, and i have notived the cush drives have a hexagonal imprint which i cannot see comes from current fitment, so i think they must have come with the wheel.
are the cush drives different and not interchangable between the mc18 and 21 ????? i have seen various posts about guys racing that use the mc18 sprocket carrier so they can change the sprockets easier. does that mean they also use mc18 cush drives?????
Cush drive rubbers with a hex imprint on them would definitely indicate them being from an MC21, however the MC18 and MC21 use the same part number for the rubbers.
There is usually a small gap between the sprocket carrier face and the wheel on a standard setup, but I can't tell you if/what it should be on an R5K with an MC21 wheel. You will need to fit it all up, and check the sprocket alignment.
I would be surprised if there was anything untoward. _________________ Andy.

I'm using a mc18 carrier on a 21 with none of these problems, are you sure you have it all pushed fully home as sometimes they need a little persuasion, ie a solid nylon mallet or similar, as Andy said there should be nothing to go wrong. _________________ Proud Father of , 05 ktm 400exc supermoto 2018 honda crf rx supermoto
