Mc21 chain slider

Sat Jan 16, 2016 11:49 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Having a bit of trouble getting a chain slider sorted.

I tried a cheap Chinese one off ebay and the rubber was too soft and it chewed it up and covered the chain with bits of rubber.

I have just tried another one which is supposed to be made in Japan and a good quality. The rubber was a little harder, but it is still chewing out very quickly and leaving rubber everywhere.

What are other people running? And has anyone had a similar experience and it stopped chewing out once it was worn in a bit more?

I've not seen the pattern ones so cant comment but I have struggled to find a decent used one. They tend to get a bit brittle with age and the strap that connects the top an bottom halves together breaks very easily.

I broke the last one I bought un wrapping it, ended up using some black RTV to glue it to the swinging arm!!! Bit of a bodge but it works a treat and the chances of finding a good used one are pretty slim.

I've experienced the same problem. Too bad they don't use the proper rubber, having the mold and manufacturing infrastructure in place. I've just bought another as mine is chewed through to the swingarm. Maybe that's the plan (planned obsolescence).

That's what pisses me off with any of the Chinese stuff. They are more than capable of producing a superb product, but cut corners at every available opportunity in the name of profit! Rolling Eyes

Unfortunately, outside of Japan, it's common Asian mentality. The only reason you get good stuff out of TYGA is because of western quality control. Buy motorcycle parts from anywhere else in Thailand, and you will soon see what I mean!
