18" tyre options

Tue Feb 02, 2016 3:14 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Do many manufacturers still make tyres to fit an 18 x 4.5 rim? I'm looking for a fast road tyre - is there anything notable out there? If not then I could always try to source a 17 inch rim...

Thanks.

I'd be inclined to try Red Baron for a 17" rim, as the easy option.

Some HRC link plates for the rear suspension should keep the ride height somewhere near where you need it.

They were always reasonably cheap, and had a lot of NSR parts, although TYGA generally get first shout on anything.

An MC21 17" rear wheel will drop straight in. Just need to work on the rolling radius to keep it at least the same as the MC18, as the '18 is already lazy and laps up additional ride height.

I have heard the Dunlop alpha 13 is a good tyre and they do a 4.5 x 18 but not sure if they are available in Thailand but you can get them in Japan and Australia
