MC21 carb plumbing.

Fri Jan 07, 2011 1:16 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Going by the above image..

The hose that has the circle highlighted at the end of it that goes to another 3 way joint and then onto the solenoid..

One part of that joint connects into the airbox..
Can that 3 way joint be by passed?? Does it need to be plugged into the airbox for any particular reason??

What or how would you do to overcome this if I was to fit one of these HRC copy airboxes from the marketplace?? Just run a straight hose to the solenoid??

Good question.
I would also like to know what the gods say about that.
My X mechanic broke mine (the bit that goes into the airbox) I brought a new Honda part to replace it.

If you were using a HRC air box that hose is removed and the X is vented to air.

While the later HRC kits came with a red X you can use a stock X.

So that whole section of plumbing is not needed at all..

Does the red X have that section blocked off or is it vented to air also??
What about the solenoid/sensor(whatever it is it goes to), does that need to be plugged or just leave it open??

How does all this affect the carbs??

I presume you mean the T piece that normally goes into the bottom of the top right hand side oif the airbox?

Leave it open to air.

Yeah, the 'T' piece that plugs into the air box..
You say leave it open to air, Stephen says to remove the hose all together and leave the 'X' piece open to air..
Could a hose be run just directly from the 'X' piece to the solenoid(thingy), or if you were to remove the hose all together, does the solenoid(thingy) need to be blocked or open??

Well then Steve and I disagree...try both and tell us which works best.
